Topic: The Virginia Breeding Bird Atlas Survey 2
Speaker: Dr. Ashley Peele
For the final meeting of the MBC year on May 1st, Ashley Peele, a repeat offender who
last spoke to us in January 2017, will be able to give us some sense of just how things look at
this point for the birds of the Commonwealth. Research Biologist at Virginia Tech’s
Conservation Management Institute and Coordinator of the VABBA2, no one is better
positioned to see the bigger picture of just what is happening to Virginia’s 200+ breeding
species than she. As the Survey runs from 2016-2020, there is still much data to be collected
and analyzed but some trends are no doubt emerging. This a vitally important topic and if
anyone can shed light on what is going on in Virginia’s avian universe, it is Dr. Peele.
