To kick off the new year we are pleased to welcome back an old friend of MBC. Marshall Faintich IS the Rockfish Valley Trail personified. He has spent literally countless hours there making sure to chronicle the comings and goings of all birds to the Wintergreen region and cannot have missed many. Rumor has it that migrants now have to check with him before traversing the region, but this has not yet been documented. We are working on it.
The September meeting, however, concerns some seven trips he made to England and Scotland between 2008 and 2017. Mostly his substantial list of 101 species includes birds from in and around London but also from the considerably wilder Scottish highlands. Most will know Marshall’s photography from visits to his own extraordinary website, various magazines, and other publications. If you have not familiarized yourself with these already, do yourself a favor and go explore under Faintich and Birds. That should do it.
Many will be familiar with the British Isles from previous trips there for other reasons, but Marshall’s presentation should whet the appetite and open up new horizons for the next visit. He will doubtless be full of good tips on where to go. It will be a marvelous way to begin the MBC year.
