Field Trip Leader:
Join PVBC trip leader Janet Paisley and staff from the Rockfish Valley Foundation for a birding excursion to the Rockfish Valley Trail, a fall migration hotspot in Nelson County. Previous fall trips to this location have turned up exciting warblers and sparrows, such as Connecticut Warbler and Lincoln’s Sparrow, as well as their more “common” cousins. You never know what may be found on a walk at this spot. It will be a fun morning.
- This field trip is open to all for free with registration: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fall-birding-walk-on-the-rockfish-valley-trails-tickets-1684525594399?aff=oddtdtcreator
- This spot is about 40 minutes from Charlottesville. Meet at 721 Rockfish Valley Highway, Nellysford, VA
- The walk will traverse about a mile on relatively flat, grass trails.
- A port-a-potty is available at the park.
- Carpooling encouraged.
Directions:
Take Rte 250 West to 151 South (Critzer Shop Road).
Go 14 miles and pass through Nellysford.
