PVBC Meeting Minutes: December 3, 2025

Myrlene Staten, President, opened the meeting promptly at 7:00 p.m., at the Ivy Creek Natural Area Education Building, with 26 people in attendance.
Membership Update
As of today, PVBC has 218 active members, as compared to 224 active members last year at this approximate time.
Upcoming Field Trips
First Saturday Bird Walk at Ivy Creek Natural Area, on Saturday, December 6th, at 7:30 a.m. Meet in the main parking lot at 1780 Earlysville Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
Field Trip at Pine Knot, on Saturday, December 13th, at 7:30 a.m. Meet at 711 Coles Rolling Road, Scottsville, VA 24590.
2025 Charlottesville Christmas Bird Count, on Saturday, December 20th, 2025: If interested in participating, please contact Jenny Gaden [email protected].
Featured Presentation
Program Chair, Joanna Vondrasek, introduced Dr. Dan Melilza, Professor of Biology at the University of Virginia, who presented on How the Social Environment Shapes Auditory Processing in the Australian Zebra Finch. After Dr. Meliza’s presentation, the meeting was adjourned.
The Club meets next on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the Ivy Creek Natural Area Education Building, in person. Sergio Harding will present and provide an update about the Second Virginia Breeding Bird Atlas.
