PVBC Meeting Minutes: November 5, 2025

Myrlene Staten, President, opened the meeting promptly at 7:00 p.m., on Zoom, with 25 people in attendance.
Membership Update
Our membership is 152 FY26 members plus 66 FY25 members that have not yet renewed, totaling 218 active members.
Upcoming Field Trips
PVBC Field Trip: Bellair Farm, on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. Meet at 5290 Bellair Farm, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
PVBC Bird Walk: Greene Community Park, on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. Meet at 512 Jeri Allen Way, Ruckersville, VA 22986. RSVP is required by emailing [email protected].

Featured Presentation
Program Chair, Joanna Vondrasek, introduced Dr. Dan Mennill, Professor of Ornithology at the University of Windsor. Dr. Mennill presented a fascinating talk to Club, titled Eavesdropping on the missing migrants: Night flight calls and bioacoustics studies of bird migration. A recording of his presentation can be found here. After Dr. Mennill’s presentation, the meeting was adjourned.
The Club meets next on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., at the Ivy Creek Natural Area Education Building, in person.
