Field Trip Leader:
Join PVBC trip leader Will Kurtz for a birding field trip at Bellair Farm in southern Albemarle County. The farm features an excellent variety of hardwood forests, agricultural fields, extensive brushy areas and a small lake. A variety of songbirds, raptors and woodpeckers are expected, including grassland birds like Eastern Meadowlarks, American Kestrels and Northern Harriers.
- This trip is free and open to all without registration.
- Meet at 5290 Bellair Farm, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
- The walk will traverse roughly 2 miles over mostly flat terrain. The route can be very muddy, please wear appropriate footwear.
- The farm store may be open offering local produce and goods as well as a bathroom.
- Carpooling is encouraged.
- No weather reschedule date has been set.
Directions: From Charlottesville, follow Rt. 20 south for 9 miles; turn left on Carters Mountain Rd then immediately right onto Secretarys Road. After approximately 1.5 miles, look for the Bellair Sign on your right. Take the first entrance.
