Field Trip Leader:
Join PVBC trip leader Cory Swift to explore Bracketts Farm in Louisa County. The property features fields and a lake that often hold a nice variety of waterfowl, raptors and sparrows, among other birds. After birding the lake, participants can follow Cory around sunset to a nearby spot to look for Short-eared Owls!
- This trip is free and open to all.
- Meet at 1117 Bracketts Farm Rd, Louisa, VA 23093. Detailed directions below.
- The walk will traverse roughly 1.5 miles over slightly hilly and sometimes uneven terrain. The route can be muddy, please wear appropriate footwear.
- Carpooling is encouraged.
- There is an outhouse on site.
Directions from Charlottesville:
- Take 64 East until exit 136
- Take 15 North for six miles until a right onto East Jack Jouett Road
- Take East Jack Jouett Road until a left on Nolting Road
- After just under a mile on Nolting Road, look for the gated entrance to Brackett’s Farm on your left
- Take the driveway until you see a large garden on your left, a sign to your right will indicate parking in a grass field (Google Maps pin here)
