    PVBC Field Trip: Plain Dealing Farm

    Field Trip Leader:

    Join local ornithologist Dan Bieker and PVBC trip leader Cory Swift for a birding field trip at Plain Dealing Farm, a historic horse farm in Keene, with a mix of forest, open fields, extensive brushy areas and a lake. A variety of sparrows are possible along with some early waterfowl, other migrants and raptors.

    • This trip is free and open to all capacity is limited and registration is required: Register here.
    • Meet at 906 Plain Dealing Farm, Scottsville, VA 24590.
    • Walk will traverse roughly 1.5 miles over moderate terrain, with two stream crossings.
    • A bathroom will be available after the outing.
    • Parking is limited; please carpool!
    • Weather reschedule date of Oct. 19.

    Directions: From PVCC, follow Rt. 20 south for 11.5 miles; turn left on Rt. 712 (Coles Rolling Rd.); go 1 mile and turn left at Plain Dealing Farm entrance.

    Blue Ridge Young Birders Club

    PVBC sponsors a young birders club to foster discovery and learning about Virginia’s birds in children ages 7-16. The Blue Ridge Young Birders Club meets monthly during the first Saturday bird walks at Ivy Creek and conducts field trips in the Charlottesville area.
